Boyd scores first career goal, Quinnipiac falls to No. 10 Princeton

HAMDEN, Conn. –  The Quinnipiac women's hockey team lost an ECAC matchup against the #10 Princeton Tigers, 4-1, on Dec. 1.Freshman Zoe Boyd recorded her first career goal on the Bobcats' power play. Abbie Ivestallied 35 saves, which is the second-highest number this season for the junior netminder.

  • (9:27, 1st period PP) – Quinnipiac 1, Princeton 0: Freshman Zoe Boyd scored her first career goal on the Bobcats' power play to take the 1-0 lead. Kenzie Lancaster sent a pass back to the point to find Boyd, who was ready to take the one-time shot. 
  • (11:20, 1st period EV) – Quinnipiac 1, Princeton 1: Sarah Fillier scored not long after Boyd to even the score. Claire Thompson and Sarah Verbeek tallied assists on the goal. 
  • (17:49, 1st period EV) – Quinnipiac 1, Princeton 2: Karlie Lund gave the Tigers the lead after netting a rebound on the right side of the crease from a shot by Carly Bullock. 
  • (11:25, 2nd period EV) – Quinnipiac 1, Princeton 3: With the puck in the left corner, Annie McDonald sent it behind the Bobcat's net to the opposite side to Shannon Griffin. Griffin found Fillier on the right-side faceoff circle, and she scored off a one-timer to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead.
  • (16:46, 2nd period EV) – Quinnipiac 1, Princeton 4: The Tigers took a 4-1 lead with under five minutes left to play in the middle period. Carly Bullock found the loose puck on the red line and scored unassisted. 


  • Abbie Ives recorded 35 saves against the Tigers. She is now 4-7-3 on the season. 
  • Zoe Boyd scored her first career goal on the power play. The freshman now has seven points on the season with one goal and six assists. She also leads the team in helpers. 
  • Seniors Kenzie Lancaster and Melissa Samoskevich both tallied assists on Quinnipiac's goal.
  • Quinnipiac went 1-1 on the power play while Princeton went 0-1. 
  • The Tigers outshot the Bobcats 39-21.  

The Bobcats will hit the road to face Union and RPI starting on Friday, Dec. 7 against the Dutchwomen in Schenectady, N.Y. The puck drop is set for 6 p.m.
