Dartmouth Bested By Princeton at Hobey Baker Rink

PRINCETON, N.J. - Freshman Sara McClanahan scored her first collegiate goal in the 4-1 loss to Princeton at Hobey Baker Rink on Friday evening.

The Big Green are now 0-4-0 both overall and in ECAC Hockey play, while the Tigers improved to 3-2-0 and are 3-0-0 in conference action.

Fellow freshman Gabby Billing also picked up her first point with her assist. In net, senior Christine Honor had 35 saves.

Although Princeton was leading in shots, it was Dartmouth that struck first at 4:40. The play started with a good save by Honor and the puck was controlled by the Green until it was intercepted by a Tiger. Battling behind Princeton's net, Billing passed to McClanahan, who appeared to the right of Cassie Reale in net and beat the goalie to it. The Tigers responded three minutes later, scoring just two seconds after the faceoff. The teams played out the remaining 12 minutes tied at one-goal apiece.

The score remained tied until over halfway through the second period, when Princeton scored the go ahead and eventual game winner. The Tigers went on to add one more before the end of the period to take a 3-1 advantage into the third.

Dartmouth had some nice chances in the third period, but Reale got in the way of all of them. Princeton found the back of the net in the sixth minute to make it a 4-1 game. Midway through, sophomores Katerina Dajia and Emily McLaughlin, senior Tess Bracken and Billing all tested the Tiger goalie with consecutive shots to try and get another on the board and all were stopped. The Green continued to fight, but ran out of time.

The Big Green will return to action on Saturday with a 3 p.m. game against Quinnipiac.
