Princeton and Providence Play to Tie

Princeton and Providence played to another 2-2 tie this afternoon in Game 2 of the two-game set at Hobey Baker Rink. The Tigers took a two-goal lead before the Friars battled back to even things up.

Sophomore Carly Bullock net her third goal of the season with junior Karlie Lund and Stephanie Sucharda assisting. With Sucharda holding the puck in at the blue line, she dished it off to Lund. And in nearly identical fashion as her second goal in yesterday's game, Bullock deked her defender and as goaltender Madison Myers overplayed to the right side leaving the left side of the goal open for the tally.

Junior Keiko DeClerck scored her first of the season on the power-play at 7:36 of the second as Princeton grabbed a 2-0 lead. Kiersten Falck and Julia Edgar had the assists as the Tigers scrapped for the goal in front of the net with DeClerck getting the final touch and lofting it over Myers.

Cassidy MacPherson scored both goals for Providence, the first at 14:27 of the second, as she cut across the slot and roofed in her first goal of the season.

The Friars came out buzzing in the third period, and outshot Princeton 12-4. MacPherson was able to tally the game-tying goal at 7:47 on a redirection of a Chloe Gonsalves shot from the right point.

Sophomore Stephanie Neatby kept Princeton alive and helped to force OT, making 11 saves in the third period and five more in the OT frame. She finished the game with 37 stops.

Myers made 30 saves as Providence, who moves to 4-2-2 on the season.

Princeton, now 0-2-2 on the season, was 1 for 4 on the power play and 5 for 5 on the penalty kill.

The Tigers begin ECAC play next weekend, Oct 27-28, hosting Harvard & Dartmouth.
