PRINCETON, N.J. (10/16/17) - Freshman Annie MacDonald scored twice to lead the Princeton women's hockey team to a 3-0 shutout over Team China on Monday in a preseason exhibition game at Hobey Baker Rink. All three goals were scored by freshmen, with Shannon Griffin netting the final goal.
Junior Karlie Lund assisted on both of MacDonald's goals. Right winger on that line, Carly Bullock had one assist, while defender Stephanie Sucharda had one helper and blocked three shots. Griffin's linemates Sarah Verbeek and senior captain Kiersten Falck had assists on the fianl goal in the second period.
Senior Alysia DaSilva earned the win in goal, stopping 11 shots in 20 minutes. Freshman Rachel McQuigge made 20 saves in the final two periods.
Shots in the game were even at 31-31. Princeton was 0 for 1 on the power play and 2 for 2 on the penalty kill.
Former Tiger Rose Alleva '14 had three shots, blocked one and finished even in her on-ice rating.
Princeton opens the season this weekend, Oct. 20-21 when it hosts Providence in a pair of games. Friday's game is at 6 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m.
