No. 9 Quinnipiac Skates to Draw vs. No. 3 St. Lawrence

CANTON, NY - No. 9/9 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey played to a 1-1 tie vs. No. 3/3 St. Lawrence on Saturday evening at Appleton Arena in an ECAC Hockey matchup. The Bobcats move to 18-7-6 (11-5-3 ECAC) with the tie, while St. Lawrence is now 23-3-3 (15-2-2 ECAC). Quinnipiac breaks the Saints' five-game winning streak with the draw.
 
Senior captain Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) grabbed Quinnipiac's lone goal in the tie, with assists from Randi Marcon (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Taylar Cianfarano(Oswego, New York).

Bobcats' goaltender Sydney Rossman (Excelsior, Minnesota) made 24 total saves on the night, including a series of big stops at the end of the third period and in the overtime frame. She now has a 1.55 goals-against average to go along with a .918 save percentage this season.

St. Lawrence got on the board just 4:22 into the first period. After winning a battle for the puck along the boards, Hannah Miller skated toward the net and poked one in for her 14th goal of the season to make it 1-0 Saints. Brooke Webster earned her 29th assist of the season on the play.
 
Quinnipiac came out strong in the second period, though, evening things up with 12:39 left in the frame when Woods grabbed her 10th goal of the year. Sophomore Marcon raced the puck up the ice on a power play, then poked the puck toward net. St. Lawrence goalie Grace Harrison made a pad save, then junior Cianfarano slapped the puck toward net. After another stop, Woods came streaking toward the goal and jabbed the puck into the back of the net to tie things 1-1.

Cianfarano now has 13 helpers on the season, while Marcon earned her third assist for the year on the play. Quinnipiac has now converted on 21 of 110 power-play chances so far this season, good for No. 5 nationally. 

The Bobcats won 27 of 45 faceoffs in the conference matchup, while St. Lawrence recorded 25 shots to Quinnipiac's 23. Quinnipiac is now 2-4-2 vs. ranked opponents so far this year.
 
The Bobcats are back in action on Sunday, Feb. 12, heading over to Potsdam, New York to take on Clarkson (3 p.m. puck drop). Quinnipiac then returns home next weekend for its final two regular season games of the 2016-17 season, hosting RPI on Friday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m., then Union on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m.
